About Us

The new Department for Education, Children and Young People was established on 1 October 2022. Our Department is responsible for Child Safety, Youth Justice, Public Education, Out of Home Care, Libraries and Child and Family Learning Centres.

We do this through a range of services outlined below.

The Department reports to the Tasmanian Minister for Education, Children and Youth.
